Customer Story: The Winklerhof Farm

The Winklerhof is a farm in Gaggenau-Winkel that has over 500 years of history and is now in the 4th generation owned by the Maier family. Since 2012, Martina Maier has been managing the farm and the horse boarding stables.

The focus of their agricultural activities is on the production of high-quality roughage for horses. For this purpose, more than 120 hectares of grassland are maintained and kept open - in corners around the farm, but also in Bad Rotenfels, Kuppenheim-Oberndorf, Selbach to Gernsbach. Forage production is largely mechanized. All hay is brought in immediately after pressing and stored under cover.

For the approximately 70 horses, about 1200 round bales of hay from the first cut and about 150 bales of straw and grass silage from the second cut are needed per year.

Due to the conditions of our green space, the hay bales often have wet spots, which increase the risk of heating inside the hay bales and thus the risk of spontaneous combustion. We wanted to automate our processes more and replace manual measurements as much as possible. In addition, the manual thermometers were too imprecise for us.

These reasons have led us to purchase the HAYTECH system with 60 probes. With HAYTECH, we have found a solution that allows us to always keep an eye on the temperature of the hay bales. We can control and track the data at any time via the Quanturi app and feel safer because alerts are sent reliably when there are high temperatures.
