Wireless Compost Temperature Monitoring System

Ensure regulatory compliance, prevent fires,  and avoid tedious, expensive and dangerous process of  manual monitoring.

Quanturi compost temperature monitoring system

Quanturi’s compost monitoring system continuously tracks temperature to optimize biowaste decomposition and prevent fires caused by spontaneous combustion.
The temperature history gives a complete view of the composting process from fermentation to curing and maturation. The generated reports are a guarantee for sanitary authorities and customers that compost has been produced in compliance with the regulations in effect. You can set custom high and low temperature alerts in the app, and receive call, SMS and email alert notifications if temperatures go beyond your defined range.
The Quanturi system is compatible with all types of composting (windrows and in-vessels) and all types of inputs (green waste, sludge, digestate ...).

Benefits of Quanturi compost monitoring system

Compliance

Quanturi keeps your compost temperature monitored continuously, recording, visualizing, and logging every reading as downloadable data. Whatever the standard, PFRP in USA, RAL Quality Mark (RAL GZ 251) in Germany, or PAS 100 in UK, Quanturi automatically documents temperatures for the required period. No more manual logging, no guesswork. Just instant visualization and audit-ready conformity reports.

Safety

The wireless Quanturi waste monitoring system reduces risks of work accidents by avoiding contacts with dangerous fumes (e.g. ammoniac, nitrogen). It also sends temperature alerts to prevent fires. Temperature monitoring is done remotely and continuously and data is available online at any time.

Quality

Continuous temperature monitoring with the Quanturi system helps determine the right time to turn and aerate the compost pile during decomposition. It also helps control the curing and maturing phases, improving the quality of the compost.

How does the Quanturi bio-waste monitoring system work?

Compost temperature monitoring with wireless Tango XN sensors

Tango XN temperature probes for compost

The Tango XN temperature probes have been specifically designed for use in corrosive composting environment. These probes are placed in compost piles and wirelessly measure the temperature. Quanturi’s yellow, robust wireless temperature probes are easily visible and compatible with all installation configurations, including composting platforms and digestate management. Their spike length is 100 cm or 200 cm to meet national temperature monitoring standards.

The mobile base station

The mobile base station collects measurement data from the Tango XN compos temperature monitoring probes and sends it to Quanturi’s secure cloud . Equipped with an integrated SIM card, the mobile base station receives real-time data from the temperature measurement probes. It processes this information and transmits it to the cloud, where our compost monitoring application retrieves and analyses it.
Quanturi compost temperature monitoring application

The Quanturi compost temperature monitoring software application

Quanturi.app

Quanturi.app is the software application used to monitor and manage the temperature monitoring system. The application is available in web address: https://quanturi.app and can be accessed from any device (smartphone, computer, tablet).

The software application gives full control over the temperature monitoring process. The composting site can be virtually mapped to visualize the locationand the temperature history of each probe placed in compost windrow. Activity reports are also available for traceability and conformity of compost.

In the application, you can set custom high and low temperature alerts, and it will notify you via call, SMS and email if the temperature rises above or drops below your pre-set limits.

RC 12 compost ventilation controller

The RC12 is the latest addition to the Quanturi composting monitoring system, designed to optimize the composting process while reducing energy costs. It enables compost producers to remotely control ventilation lines, effectively regulating temperature and oxygen levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

How i can monitor compost temperature with Quanturi System?

Quanturi wireless temperature monitoring system combine industrial-grade wireless probes with cloud-based software, allowing users to monitor compost temperature remotely, receive alerts, and maintain optimal composting conditions without manual measurements.

Does Quanturi System compatible with PFRP, RAL GZ 251, and PAS 100 composting standards?

Yes, It is compatible and verified with different standards. Quanturi's core function is continuous, accurate temperature tracking, it's adaptable to temperature-based composting standards. You can monitor temperature as long as your compliance standard requires.

What should be the ideal distance between the probes?

Temperature can fluctuate within a single compost windrow.  We recommend placing at least 1 probe every 15 meters or one probe per windrow.  The exact spacing may vary depending on your process, quality standards, or the level of fire protection you need.

How do I calibrate the Tango XN probes?

Tango XN probes are factory calibrated, you dont need to calibrate like handheld manual probes. If you need official certification, please contact our support team.

In the compost software application, can I create account access for other users?

Yes, you can add recipients or additional users through the "Main User" tab in the application.

Can I monitor multiple composting facilities at once?

Yes, it's possible to monitor all of your composting facilities with the "Master View and Regional View feature" from a single dashboard. You can also share data and assign roles to your team. No need to travel from one site to another.

Can I get a warning if my base station is offline?

Yes, you will receive an SMS, if your base station is offline.

Why is compost temperature monitoring important?

Monitoring compost temperature is essential to:

Ensure proper organic waste decomposition

Achieve pathogen and weed seed sanitization

Prevent overheating that can kill beneficial microorganisms

Maintain compliance with composting regulations

Consistent temperature data helps operators make informed decisions about turning, aeration, and moisture control.

What is the best compost thermometer or temperature probe?

The best compost temperature probes are wireless, long-stem, and designed for deep compost piles. Quanturi wireless temperature probes are widely used because they:

Measure temperature at depths up to 2 meters

Connect to cloud-based software

Provide real-time monitoring and alerts

Support multiple users for commercial composting operations

How deep should compost temperature be measured?

For accurate monitoring, temperatures should be measured at multiple depths. It also depends on local composting standards and methods.

Near-surface temperature: approximately 12 inches below the surface

Core temperature: 4 feet (or deeper) into the compost pile

Quanturi’s 1-meter and 2-meter probes are ideal for capturing both surface and core temperatures in windrows and static piles.

How often should compost temperature be checked?

With Quanturi wireless compost temperature monitoring system, readings can be collected automatically at predefined intervals—such as every 15 minutes or hourly—providing continuous insights without labour-intensive manual checks. It also sends alerts in case temperature exceeded your define limit. Measurement frequencies vary from sanitization to maturation phase. In most of the cases it is mandatory to check daily at least 1 time. This is especially critical during the sanitization phase.

How does Quanturi monitor compost temperature remotely?

Quanturi uses IoT-enabled temperature probes installed directly into the compost pile. These probes transmit temperature data wirelessly to a cloud-based monitoring platform, where users can:

View real-time and historical temperature trends

Set custom alerts for high or low temperatures

Share access with team members or inspectors

This allows full visibility and control over compost conditions from any location.

Where should compost temperature probes be placed?

For a complete temperature profiling of a compost pile, place probes approximately 4 feet off the ground. Measure at multiple depths to capture temperature variations across the pile. This approach provides a more accurate understanding of compost health and consistency.

Can compost temperature monitoring help with regulatory compliance?

Yes, compost temperature monitoring is a compliance requirement. Without it, you cannot sell or use compost. For example, RAL GZ 251, PFRP, and PAS 100.

Is wireless compost temperature monitoring suitable for large-scale operations?

Yes. Wireless systems are especially beneficial for:

Commercial composting facilities

Agricultural composting operations

Municipal organic waste management sites

Quanturi’s system supports multiple probes, user access control, and centralized monitoring, making it scalable for large organizations.

What temperature should compost reach for sanitization?

During the sanitization stage, compost typically needs to reach 55–65°C (131–149°F) for several consecutive days, depending on local regulations.

Wireless monitoring systems help ensure these temperatures are reached and maintained without overheating, improving compost quality and safety.
