What is Feed value?

Feed Value helps you better understand how storage conditions may be affecting your hay over time.

By combining your HAYTECH temperature monitoring with information about your crop, Feed value provides personalised insights into your forage. 
To generate these estimates, you'll be asked to enter a few basic details about your hay, including the cutting number, harvest date, hay species, and growth stage at harvest.

Together, this information powers two valuable features:

Mold Risk

Stay ahead of potential problems before they become visible. 


The Mold Risk feature analyses your hay's temperature history to estimate how heating may have affected forage quality. Instead of relying on smell or appearance alone, you can identify areas that may need attention sooner.


With Mold Risk you can:

  • Detect heating trends early
  • Identify hotspots within stacks
  • Prioritise which hay to use first
  • Support healthier feed for your animals

Hay Composition

See how storage conditions may influence feed quality.


Hay Composition estimates important nutritional indicators based on your hay's temperature history together with crop information you provide.


You'll receive estimates for:

  • Crude Protein (CP) – an indicator of protein available in your forage.
  • Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF) – an indicator of fibre content that helps assess feed quality.


These insights can help you make more informed feeding decisions throughout the storage season.
