Ernst Seeds uses the Quanturi monitoring system to protect seed storage facilities
Customer Name: Ernst Conservation Seeds
Location: Meadville, PA, U.S.A
Product Name: HAYTECH Probes and Tango M Probes
Background & Challenges
Before implementing the Quanturi system, Ernst Conservation Seeds relied on guesswork to determine when biomass and seed had dried sufficiently. This monitoring approach resulted in several instances where seed lot temperatures exceeded recommended levels in storage bins, leading to reduced germination and, in one case, a fire caused by spontaneous combustion.
Why Quanturi System
Quanturi was chosen for its intuitive software interface and the versatility of its probes, which can be easily used across different storage structures and commodities. Ernst Conservation Seeds required a solution that was less permanent and more flexible than traditional grain bin sensing products, allowing them to adapt to changing storage needs without installing fixed equipment.

Impact on Operations
Quanturi temperature monitoring probes have delivered measurable time and cost savings for Ernst Conservation Seeds in two keyways. First, the team can remotely monitor grain bin conditions, eliminating the need for daily physical inspections. With dozens of bins spread across multiple acres, this remote monitoring frees up hours each day that can be spent on other important tasks. The Quanturi system provided continuous monitoring coverage across multiple, geographically dispersed storage locations.

Second, the temperature-sensing probes provide accurate, continuous data on seed stability. With this insight, the team can safely adjust or turn off blower fans and heating systems when they previously wouldn’t have, resulting in significant energy savings.
Experience with the Quanturi Team
Kelly, Ben, and the rest of the crew at Quanturi have been top notch when it comes to customer service and after sales support. Kelly even came all the way to western PA to make sure everything was set up perfect on the farm to ensure constant signal between base stations and probes.
Setting up the system was quick and easy with the Quanturi team guiding every step and making sure things were done correctly. They have been incredibly diligent in making sure any issues are resolved as quickly as possible.
Looking Ahead
Ernst Conservation Seeds plans to continue to increase the use of Quanturi probes moving forward. The vision includes placing probes in warehouse stored seed lots to monitor conditions throughout the life of seed lots.
I would like to recommend Quanturi solutions to other organizations facing similar challenges. For the reasons mentioned above, if it can save time and money for Ernst Conservation Seeds, it can do the same for another business facing similar challenges.
Recommendations
There is hope that Quanturi can figure out a way to monitor moisture content in seed lot biomass with their probes. The ability to monitor both moisture content and temperature in seed lots would give the best understanding of conditions that create the ideal environment for seed processing and storage.
